Reality Stacks, by Slater King
I left university with a Biochemistry degree and then became a portrait photographer, taking me into palaces and prisons, favelas and boardrooms. Somewhere in amongst all these politicians, prisoners, royals and refugees, I became obsessed – first with how to create a portrait, and then with how to feel one.
Reality Stacks is the result of many years’ work. It begins with a simple idea – that everything is made of parts that relate to each other through connection, meaning, and belonging – and follows that thread through science, language, memory, mind, power, and what it might mean to live well. It is published by Cherry Polaroid Press in April 2026.
